Commands
  • DI - check Distances
  • AA - to calculate areas --> you can add more than one area --> you can subtract areas
  • Creating round objects --> ARC or C - Circle
  • MI - Mirror object
  • for a specific angle --> type: @20'<45d <-- 20' = distance (variable);  < = angle;  45d = the degrees of the angle
  • SNAPANG - Create a new angle to draw with (default is at 0 degrees)
Drawing a Floor Plan -
  • create layers (ie. a-.....)
  • create walls + partitions
  • create door + windows
  • create hatch for walls 
  • create steps to exterior
Drawing an Elevation -
  • create elevation layers (ie. e-.....)
  • create exterior walls
  • create window + door openings
Text + Dimensions:
  • Format --> Text Style --> Edit your Text Settings --> add new Text Sizes for various Scales (ie. 4058_1-4, 4058_1-8, etc.)
  • T - Create a Text box
  • DIMSTYLE - create / edit Dimensions 
  • DIM - create a basic Dimension
  • Annotate has multiple Dimension options
Xref - Link External References onto a Drawing
  • create a Title Sheet for all drawings
  • Use Floor Plans an XREF before adding notes, dimensions, north arrow, room names
  • insert image as an XREF --> set the layer as Defpoints to ensure it does NOT print
  • Scale said image to the appropriate Dimension.  Use a known reference point.

Paper Space - Organize your Model Space Views
  • XREF Title Sheet for all drawings within Paper Space
  • MVIEW - Creates views into Model Space --> Make sure you set up the scales for these views (bottom right) --> make sure that the views are in Defpoints --> you may creat multiple views with multiple scales
  • PSLTSCALE - make sure this is set to "0" so that the scale in MS and PS are the same
  • PS - used to get out of a particular Mview (clicking outside the box also works)
  • Ctrl + R - jump between different Mviews
  • XREF Title Sheet --> make sure that you add text that pertains to that specific drawing

Assignment No. 4 - Comparisons

Assignment No. 4 :

1: File - Save as - [Last Name][First Name]_ARC4058_Assignment_3_[detail type, ie. Wall_Panel, Interior Ceiling, etc.]

2: New File - 11" x 17" - Resolution at 200 pixels/inch - Color Mode at RGB Color

3: Assignment: Modeled and Rendered Details Comparisons.  With Rhino 4.0, model any detail within or throughout your Assignment No. 2 Building + a comparable detail in the other building option.  You shall have a model Print Screen of your detail beside a Rendered detail. The Rendered version shall have arrows or lines pointing out the different components that make up the detail.  There shall be a minimum of 3 components that make up each detail.  The Model Print Screen and the Rendered Model Shall be roughly the same angle and scale.
  • 3 different components (minimum) per detail.  They shall be called out (be consistent with font!).
  • Be sure that the detail is unique to you building.
  • Each 11" x 17" Sheet shall have 2 modeled versions (with the different layers separated by colors) and 2 rendered views (V-ray render).  
  • *BONUS 1* Do the same thing for other details (separate sheet).
  • *BONUS 2* Do the same thing for other details (separate sheet).
    4: Label Each Drawing - ie. Interior Gallery Ceiling, Typical Exterior Wall Panels, Window Detail, etc. 

    5. Briefly compare / contrast the details modeled of each building.

    6: Save file as PSD (Photoshop Document) - Save file as PDF

    7: Post JPEG on Blog (top-right corner : New Post - Insert JPEG - Publish Post!) ONLY if you have any questions pertaining to the assignment.  You do NOT need to post on the blog for this assignment.
